Mendel Segal, aka “The RaBBi-Q”, of Overland Park, Kansas, came away with the title of Grand Champion at the Second Annual Dallas Kosher BBQ Championship held on Sunday, October 30, 2016. The competition, held by the Men’s Club of Congregation Beth Torah in Richardson, TX, was a KCBS sanctioned event.
Segal, who has had a major hand in bringing kosher bbq to the forefront of competition throughout the country, also organizes and runs his own kosher bbq competition in Kansas City each August. He is also the Vaad HaKashruth of Kansas City as well as an entrepreneur with his own kosher bbq sauce and seasonings line.
The Second Annual Dallas Kosher BBQ Championship, presented by Sunnyland Furniture (www.sunnylandfurniture.com) drew a crowd of over 1,800 people and included over a dozen vendors, a silent auction, multiple kids zone activities, hot dog and pickle eating contests, and great live music provided by Counterfeit Radio (www.counterfeitradio.com). The event proceeds benefit Congregation Beth Torah’s Men’s Club and CHAI (www.chaidallas.org)
